Far too often...

Micro-recyclers excel at their craft—but struggle to grow

The barriers to scaling, funding, and navigating regulations make it harder for small-scale recyclers to thrive—despite their vital role.

Become a member

Limited funding & support

The Australian recycling industry contributes nearly $19 billion, yet small-scale operators struggle to access suitable funding opportunities.

Scarce industry visibility

Despite their vital role in environmental sustainability, micro recyclers often lack visibility and recognition in the industry, leading to missed collaboration opportunities.

Navigating complex regulations

The recycling sector in Australia faces a fragmented regulatory environment, deterring investment and making compliance challenging for micro recyclers.

AMRA (Australian MicroRecyclers Association) has been asked to make a submission to the Seafood Plastic Stewardship Board as part of their quest to get better Circular Economy outcomes in the Seafood Industry.  The National Body will present their findings in Canberra in September and we have put forward great options in the recycling and processing space.  These types of collaborations and national programmes ultimately assists all of our members and promotes the role we can play in circular economy solutions.

Although our definition of a MicroRecycler is a business turning over less than $5M per annum this does not exclude larger companies from joining the Association.  The Association already has larger corporate members that provide services or equipment to the Micro Recycler or are involved in the new sector in some way.  The Association is there for all participants in building a circular economy in Australia and we welcome all members equally.  Big, small or medium we need everyone to be involved to promote decentralised recycling and manufacturing in Australia.
